Issues with Ash Dieback

Due to the ongoing affects of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (Ash dieback) unfortunately set to decimate the Ash tree population of Europe, we often have to fell infected trees.

Ash dieback is a fungal disease with currently no cure which generally leads to leaf loss, crown dieback, and ultimately tree death.

Likely symptoms of the diease include:

  • Leaves turn black and may hang on the tree.
  • Dieback of shoots and leaves is visible in the summer.
  • Small lens-shaped lesions or necrotic spots appear on the bark of stems and branches

Early intervention can be important to try and control the disease so if  you have any concerns about Ash trees you are responsible for we can advise on the best course of action. Unfortunately in this recent case (video below) we had to act and remove the tree in question.
